Youth Mental Health Canada (YMHC) is excited to announce the availability of several resources in Chinese, expanding our mission to empower young people and support mental wellness in more communities. This initiative aligns with our commitment to providing accessible, evidence-based mental health resources to diverse populations. (Press Release)
Our Mission
Since 2013, YMHC has been dedicated to supporting the mental health of young people, their families, and their communities. We offer educational resources, professional workshops, presentations, and training courses designed to foster resilience, strength, and hope. Our goal is to equip individuals with the tools they need to navigate the challenges of education, health, and life.
Motivation for Chinese Translation
Chinese international students in Canada and the US face unique mental health challenges, including high levels of depression, anxiety, stress, and cultural adjustment difficulties. Studies have shown that a significant percentage of these students experience severe mental health issues, compounded by social isolation, academic pressure, and cultural stigma surrounding mental health. YMHC recognizes the urgent need to address these barriers and provide culturally relevant support.
Launch of the Chinese Website
Our newly launched Chinese website aims to make our resources more accessible to the Chinese-speaking community. While the site offers translations for convenience using a third-party service, we acknowledge that some content may not be accurately translated. We encourage users to refer to the English version for official information and welcome volunteers who wish to contribute to improving our translations.
New Chinese Workbook: Beneath the Surface
We are proud to introduce the Chinese version of our popular workbook, Beneath the Surface: A Creative Journal for Self-Exploration (Second Edition). This professionally translated resource ensures accuracy and provides vital tools for building self-awareness, managing stress, and enhancing mental wellness. The workbook includes activities based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailored to help users understand and navigate their emotions effectively.
Commitment to Accessibility and Inclusivity
YMHC’s resources are designed to be low-cost, immediate, and practical. By incorporating international best practices and offering materials in multiple languages, including English, French, and now Chinese, we strive to meet the diverse needs of our community. Our resources are available in various formats—print, digital fillable, and photocopiable—to ensure they are accessible to everyone.
